Hi everyone, welcome to my blog!

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog!

I’m Luciana Vianna, and here I will talk about:

  • important information on my fields of expertise (accounting, finance, business, legal and cosmetics);
  • the translation market here in Brazil; and
  • curiosities about me and how I got here 😊

If you want to hear about something specific from me, let me know here on the comments or send me an email, I’ll be happy to address your questions or indulge your curiosity! Posts will be written mostly in Portuguese and English, but you will see Spanish and Italian here as well.

To start, let me tell you a bit about myself:

I’m a Brazilian who developed a taste for traveling from an early age. You see, two of my cousins went to the US on a high school exchange program, and my dream was to do something similar. Even though my family couldn’t afford it at the time, I said to myself that I would find a job that would allow me to pursue this dream.

And, a few years later, at the age of 19, I went to the US on a Work and Travel Exchange Program. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. Arriving at the city I was supposed to work, Savannah, I found out that another girl had arrived a day earlier and taken my spot. The solution was to go to Texas to another job position. The problem: the ticket costed more than 500 USD! Since we all know despair doesn’t solve anything, I contacted my employer to explain to him the agency mistake and told him I didn’t have the money.

Problem solved, and off to new adventures! This three-month experience only widened my desire to make the world my home, and a year later I was traveling to Buenos Aires for the first time. A year after that I took a business English class in the US, this time in sunny California. In 2014 I moved to Mexico for work. In 2015 I went to Europe for the first time with a friend. In 2017 I started working as an internal auditor, traveling to a different location every three months. By the end of the year, I moved to Italy to study Italian for 6 months.

I finally returned to Brazil, but as you can see, I feel like a bird, ready to fly. I know I’ve seen only a small portion of the world, and I know there’s so much more to be seen! But more importantly, I feel like, in the end, it doesn’t matter much your birth country. We are alike; we are people trying to figure it out our place, trying to find love in ourselves and in others. As I still figure it out my place, I live my life like Dory from Finding Nemo – I keep swimming 😊

I wish you all a lovely week and talk soon!
